Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend this year. We started things off on Saturday. We usually spend the whole day with John's parents on Sunday and go to to church with them, but this year, to be able to do more things, we went up on Saturday. We got there around noon and had a great classic meal of hamburgers and hotdogs on the BBQ, along with a ham for the traditional people. The great grandparents came, along with Tyler and Kristi their boys and the newest member of their family, baby Kate, at only a week old. It was the first time we were able to see her and she was so beautiful! We all fell in love and she was the highlight of our day; for me anyway :).

Our kids were very excited about the hotdogs. . . . and the thought of what was to come (egg hunt!)
Come on boys, aren't you excited?!
After our Easter dinner, the dads hid the eggs in the backyard. Then it was time for the egg hunt to begin. We let the littlest ones go first for a head start.Daddy walked around with Piper since she still needed a lot of help finding eggs.
As soon as we let the bigger boys go, they were very fast at finding eggs. It is hard taking pictures of Brody anymore since he won't stand still.Do you see any over here?"Found some more!"After all the eggs were found, the kids sat down and tried to see who could eat their candy the fastest (seriously, that's what it seemed like).
Along with the eggs, Grandpa Brown had placed soccer balls for the big boys and rubber balls for the little kids. Piper loved her pink ball and Brody is so excited about his new soccer ball. It will be good for him to practice as he will be playing AYSO next fall for the first time. He can't wait. :)Piper was so thrilled about her candy, but unlike the boys, ate it very slowly.John and his Grandma Brown. Great picture :)Piper still working on her eggs. After the eggs, it was spa time! The spa was nice and hot and the kids had a blast. It was perfect as it turned out to be a cold day. It was supposed to be at least 70 degrees and was warmer by our house, so I thought we would all be fine in our summer clothes. Thanks goodness I brought sweatshirts to keep us warm on the 55 degree day!Brody was practicing swimming the spa, which is great because that means he isn't timid about the water this year and I don't have to put him in more swimming lessons. It is also a great help to Piper as we are both trying to get her prepped and excited about swimming lessons in a few weeks. Should be a fun week. :0
Here is a little video I took of him.

He also decided that going in the pool would be fun too. He is just plain crazy.

While the kids were in the spa with the dads, I was inside holding the precious beautiful little baby. I was in heaven. After the kids came out of the pool and got showered up, Grandpa let Piper hold Kate. Piper was the sweetest with her! So gentle, touching and noticing everything little about her, from her fingers to her nose. It was the cutest :) Brody was pretty interested in her too, which was great to see.Love this one :)The next morning was, of course, Easter and the Easter Bunny managed to visit our house, bringing lots of great gifts. He left candy-filled eggs all the way down the stairs. . . . And lots of exciting toys and treats in their baskets. Just before you begin to think that this all came from the Easter Bunny, it did not. The clothes and things in front of the baskets was from Grandma Pitta. It did seem like a lot though. This sneaky boy ran downstairs as soon as he woke up and saw what he got, then ran upstairs to yank us out of bed. We made him stay upstairs so we could be ready with the camera and they could both start collecting eggs. Look at that excitement!Brody got the eggs on the one side and Piper on the other (to always be fair). Then they couldn't wait to show us what they got. Brody got his first video game, Lego Star Wars (John was so proud) and Star Wars action figures. Piper got a Tangled doll and a Jessie doll from Toy Story.
As cute as Rapunzel was, she was a real problem from the start. Her hair definitely got TANGLED! Piper was very upset she couldn't brush her hair right. Look at that pout. So, I saved the day, and all of our sanity, and braided her hair (just like the movie) and left the end that she could brush. It was wonderful after that. The kids were supposed to get the Tangled movie for Easter, but we had a mishap. John ordered it online to get the Pascal stuffed animal for free quite a while ago and it came through the mail. He told me it would be coming, but I didn't realize it would be in the mail box. Brody decided that day to get the mail on his own, which is kind of rare without me prompting him, and he saw the bubble-wrapped envelope and went nuts. Before I realized what he had, he had ripped it open and saw what it was. Since there was no way of hiding it then, we let the kids have it. Now, Piper can quote the whole movie; she has seen it and loves it that much.

We took a few pictures, just before church, in our Easter Sunday best.

Brody always trying to get a laugh.
Piper looks so grown up here! I can't get over it.Momma with her babies. After dinner that day, Brody tackled a part of his Sees chocolate bunny. The Easter Bunny was pretty generous this year and decided to splurge. Yum, can I have some Brody?Despite all this fun, we didn't forget the reason we celebrate this Easter Sunday. I was asked by the Primary President to come into senior primary and pretend I was Mary Magdelene. I gave the account of what she saw and felt as Jesus Christ was taken from the cross, placed in the tomb, and had risen and appeared to her the next day. It was a great account and it helped me remember and celebrate the true meaning of Easter that He does live and wants us all to come unto Him. Hope everyone had just as great an Easter as we did. :)
